Founder-side strategist & builder

Ambition needsarchitecture.

I turn ambitious visions into structures that can hold. Built across markets in Asia, the Gulf, Europe and North America.

I work alongside founder-led companies and their leadership teams at the point where the idea has outgrown the structure carrying it — naming the real constraint, then building the positioning, brand, experience and operating structure that can hold the next chapter.

01 — The tension

Most growth problems are structure problems in disguise.

Growth creates complexity. Activity multiplies, positioning blurs, offers begin to compete with one another, and a capable team executes without one underlying system beneath them. The instinct is to do more. But the constraint is rarely effort — it is structure: the architecture that decides what all that effort adds up to.

The work is to find the structural problem beneath the surface symptom, and build the system that lets ambition hold.

Your vision may not need more activity. It may need a structure capable of carrying it.

You will recognise this if
  • Positioning blurs every time a new offer is added.
  • Sales and marketing are telling two different stories.
  • A capable team is executing different versions of the strategy.
  • The rebrand looked good and demand did not move.
  • A market entry has quietly stalled and nobody can say why.
  • Nothing ships correctly unless you are in the room.

Recognise three or more? The constraint is structural, and it is nameable.

02 — The vantage

Positioning, pricing, tone and proof behave differently across a border.

Some of it travels intact. Some of it quietly stops working, and nobody tells you why — the revenue simply arrives slower than the model said it would, and the team concludes the market is hard. Knowing which is which is most of the job.

02 / LondonWhere it was pressure-tested.
03 / VancouverWhere it was built.

Three cities taught different halves of the same lesson. Five more markets confirmed it. That pattern recognition is not a credential — it is the instrument.

01 / Living venture · Co-Founder FINCA Social Club A new category of belonging.I moved the question from what a club offers to what it lets you become. Belonging built as infrastructure rather than atmosphere — the first trusted door into a new city. 02 / Fintech scale-up · Brand & comms Sharegain Series BI moved the story from what the product does to what the category could be. Second marketing hire on a fintech that raised $64M; I led the first rebrand and the investor-grade communications through that chapter — the raise was the company’s, the brand behind it was the work. 03 / Premium retail · Marketing lead California Closets No. 1I moved the focus from more campaigns to one system. Fragmented marketing became a single commercial engine, and the business posted its highest monthly sales and leads on record.

What is different when we are done
  • One narrative that sales, marketing and the board all use.
  • Offers that reinforce each other instead of competing for the same buyer.
  • A market entry with the parts that do not travel identified before you spend.
  • Work that ships correctly when you are not in the room.

Vision-to-Structure™ — five moves from scattered ambition to structured momentum.

The loop repeats at every level of scale. Select a move to reveal its role.

06 — Shell Theory™

No two visions are the same. Their structures shouldn't be either.

Shell Theory is the belief. Vision-to-Structure is how it gets built.

A shell grows by adding chambers — each larger than the last, each built on the one before, never rebuilt from scratch. Businesses that last are built the same way: adaptive structure that compounds as it scales, rather than a fixed form that cracks under its own growth.

07 — Field NotesView all notes

Ideas on strategy, culture and ambition.

The Eight — weekly

Eight short notes a week, on the structure beneath growth.

Patterns from founder rooms, what travels and what breaks across a border, and the decisions that quietly reshape a business. Written for founders and operators, not for an audience.

08 — Michelle

Rigorous thinking, with a human reason behind it.

Born and raised in Singapore, British European, with bases in Vancouver, London and Singapore. At fifteen, working in five-star hospitality in Singapore, I learned how trust, service and experience are really built — long before I had the language for strategy. That lens never left: I read businesses the way I first read a room.

Founder, in-house leader, advisor — I've built across markets and disciplines, which is where the pattern-recognition comes from.
